I told him that he has to love his competitors. I asked him to pray three times a day asking Lord to help those fellows and love these fellows and give them a bigger year in business than he has himself. He was successful in becoming peaceful, but it was not easy and it took a while.
Making friends with yourself is the first step. Helping people to think highly of themselves is the next step. They will flock to you. I still remember and love my Professor in college who reprimanded me severely and told me to improve performance.
He made me perform better, which made me feel better and loved him for that. Everywhere we find people not living up to the best in themselves. They love their best to be recognized and coaxed out of them. Sometimes, they resist. Another simple way of making friends is to help people not just when they ask for help but also when you see that they need it. A businessman who had the best business in the area shared a secret of his success. He was so very loving and helpful to his customers that they could never think of going to anyone else for what he sold.
Examine yourself and get rid of characteristics that alienate people. Make conscious and deliberate attempt to help other people find greater self-esteem. Aid and assist them over rough spots in the road of life. MIMP Genuinely love them.
